Privacy Policy

Recordus records, transcribes, and analyses your audio entirely on your device. Your recordings, transcriptions, summaries, titles, and searches are never sent to us, and we run no server that could receive them.

Recordings, transcriptions, summaries, and settings sync between your devices using Apple's CloudKit service through your personal iCloud account. This data is protected by Apple's end-to-end encryption and is never accessible to us.

AI transcription is powered by Apple's SpeechAnalyzer framework and runs entirely on-device. Smart summaries and action items use Apple's Foundation Models, which also process on-device. No audio or text is sent to any cloud service.

From version 1.2.1, Recordus sends two kinds of anonymous technical telemetry, so that we can fix crashes and understand which features are worth improving. Both are switched on when you first see the privacy notice inside the app, and either can be switched off at any time in Settings › Privacy. Earlier versions sent nothing.

Neither kind ever contains your content. No audio, no transcriptions or excerpts, no recording titles or file names, no tags, no search text, and no AI prompts or results. Telemetry describes what the app did, for example that a transcription finished on the on-device engine for a recording between ten and thirty minutes long, using fixed category names and coarse ranges only.

Crash and performance diagnostics are processed by Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) in its European Union data region in Frankfurt, Germany. They contain crash reports, app-hang reports, error codes, the app version, the device model, and the operating system version. They carry no identifier for you, no IP address, and no screenshots.

Usage analytics are processed by TelemetryDeck GmbH on servers in the European Union. They contain fixed event names, coarse ranges, the app version, device model, operating system version, language, and a random identifier created on your device and hashed before it is sent. That identifier is not an Apple advertising or vendor identifier, is not linked to you, and is deleted whenever you switch analytics off. TelemetryDeck does not store IP addresses.

We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping Recordus reliable and in knowing which features are used. You can object at any time by switching either kind off in Settings › Privacy. Recordus makes no other network requests of its own: there are no accounts, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, and no third-party scripts on this website.
